Las Vegas
Catching up with Pearl over the Death Cab for Cutie/Postal Service tour in Las Vegas. We both arrived a day early to hang out, eat yummy food, and maybe not stress out too much over a shorter trip if we were constantly running back and forth straight to the airport.
Seeing all of the construction for the upcoming F1 race was a bit of a trip, especially seeing how long they're taking vs. other cities who have hosted F1... and that doesn't even get into all the drama going on right now between local businesses vs. F1. First stop was Hattie B's Nashville Hot Chicken, where their food was quite legit, even better than the last hot chicken sandwich I had in Tennessee. Guess I shouldn't be too surprised given how much popular Vegas is??
Dinner was at The X Pot, one of Chubby Cattle's flagship restaurants. The combination of waygu, hot pot, and hot stone cooking was delicious, with the combination of presentations making a good impression: foie gras-wrapped in waygu, I think it was uni-wrapped-waygu, waygu nigiri, plus more classic hot pot presentations. That said things like waygu tripe are extremely silly given tripe has no fat to speak of, although in the end all of the more traditional hot pot items (tripe, pork intestine, bean curd, etc.) were pretty good. Overall food quality was on-point, just don't look at the price. o_0
Wandered a bit on the way back, to the LinQ Promenade and also checked out The Sphere's exterior, albeit from a bit of a distance.
