Sacramento
Cousin Matt and Bekah arrived so late last night that their first stop at In-N-Out was technically today. After the obligatory COVID-19 tests for safety reasons (negative!), it was quickly proven that the In-N-Out remains as tasty as always.
After a little bit of sleep, was time to hit Moonbelly Bakery for their croissants and banana bread, not to mention their ham and egg pastry. They may not compare to what you can get in San Francisco or Los Angeles (let alone France), but they are tasty enough that the family requested we stop by there in addition to our usual stop at ABC Bakery for char siu bao, shu mai, and dan tat. The baked char siu bao were pretty average this time around, not one of their better days despite the crowd.
More of the usual stops that day, including a big family dinner at Far East Cafe. Their roast duck doesn't match up to Dragon Beaux in San Francisco, but the chicken was pretty good. Combination of salt and pepper pork and sweet and sour pork we always get too; as ordinary as it is, we always enjoy both. House special fried rice and seafood soup were both average at best, but the food itself isn't too important-- being able to see all the family was.
