San Diego
On the way to San Diego, with a dinner stop at Quan Hy in Westminster for banh beo and bun bo hue. Latter was okay, I think a different style than I prefer, but still full of tasty tendon. Banh beo isn't a dish I normally get, felt a bit like a pig eating the whole order, but heck why not, they're small!
Residence Inn by Marriott right next to UCSD, unlike the one next to UC Berkeley, is done in the traditional OG style of a Residence Inn-- a ton of low-rise buildings with just-barely-enough-almost-not-enough parking. Each two-story building is basically a cluster of four (or was it six? or eight?) good-sized studio apartments, great for an extended stay. Nothing really memorable but not a bad place to stay. Plus they have two Tesla chargers and one SAE J1772 charger on-site. Only level 2, but super handy. Just make sure to ask the front desk to turn on for you.
