Apparently the conference breakfast the day before was a full-on, proper hot breakfast affair; today was somewhat disappointing continental breakfast complete with weird chia seed/mousse/coconut thing. Joy co-presented a cross-campus collaboration around XR at UCLA, randomly caught Martin between hybrid/virtual sessions, and then it was back to the conference proper for boxed sandwiches and salads.
More all-virtual-sessions marked the rest of the afternoon, very weird considering we were all here in person????? (still confused on this one) We did one session sitting on the lunch tables setup for the conference, then walked around campus while listening to the final sessions. The student employees running The Campanile were nice enough to let UC Tech attendees up to the top at least, and after finishing at The Campanile, we got to see a few students running around with their robotic dog from Boston Dynamics. Felt very much like the quintessential UC Berkeley experience.
One last BART ride of the trip, down to San Francisco International Airport. When taking BART from Oakland to SFO, have to remember the train goes all the way to the "end" of the line in Millbrae first, then goes a stop north to SFO as the actual "end" of the line. Dim sum for dinner is not the usual, but when you're trapped at an airport, even the decidedly inferior food court experience at Koi Palace Express actually is pretty tasty, and appealed more than the other options. Took off before the fog could envelop SFO and got some pretty pictures out of the deal.
