Mammoth
Just the boys to Mammoth this trip-- and two adults having to trade off skiing and babysitting duties is definitely a handful. Uncle Brian is also definitely not grandma/grandpa and not even close to substituting for a parent, so poor Mike looked exhausted by the end of the trip.
Lucas is finally skiing a litle bit on his own though, so that's big progress for this season! Add in fresh snow on Sunday in addition to the tons of snow this season, and it's made for great skiing conditions. Even skiied all the way across the final bridge into the Village for the first time in recent memory, kind of a cool little accomplishment. Unfortunately with only two adults (and not the usual three or even four or five), all the skiing away from Schoolyard Express was all solo by each of us, so no team bombing off the top this trip.
Roadtripping in EV's continues. Tesla has a brand-new-to-me second supercharger in Mojave, and by topping off in Mojave, you can skip the very busy supercharge in Lone Pine, instead doing a quick 10 minute top-off in Bishop to make it all the way to Mammoth. The way down is even easier, only a single charging stop in Bishop required in a Model Y Dual Motor or Model 3 Dual Motor. And charing with the battery this empty (20-30%) means Tesla's very brief peak charging rates (greater than 250kWh), however brief, can be fully taken advantage of, meaning +33% charge in 10 minutes.
