The Baltics
Was supposed to be a trip to Finland, maybe go up to Oulu, maybe even further north into the Arctic Circle, but then realized I had time time to do the Baltics instead... so... why not?
Ended up a bit of a packed trip instead of a leisurely one, but that was okay. Just glad I had no major delays on any of my flights, and that I got to soak in the long summer nights less than a month after the summer solistice.
Day 1 - the usual day of flying including a stopover at the United Polaris Lounge at Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD).
Day 2 - early arrival in Frankfurt (FRA) before a quick jaunt up to the blue skies of Helsinki, Finland.
Day 3 - morning in Helsinki, then the ferry to Tallin, Estonia.
Day 4 - starting the roadtrip, from Tallin to Parnu and ending with a beautiful late summer night in Riga, Lativa.
Day 5 - a bit more of old town Riga, then down to Vilnius, Lithuania with a brief stop at the Hill of Crosses.
Day 6 - rain day in Vilnius.
Day 7 - return home via Helsinki, Frankfurt, and San Francisco complete with some great views of Iceland and Greenland.
