Faroe Islands
One of the slightly more out of the way Nordic locations I'd been meaning to go to for a while. The scenery doesn't vary as much as, say, Iceland, but the grassy green, sharply angled landscape has an appeal of its own. Throw in the Gulf Stream in the North Atlantic, which means weather is more mild than one might expect-- yet still, like anywhere in this part of the ocean, subject to change dramatically over just a few minutes, and it ends up it a unique experience.
Days 0 and 1 - heading across the Atlantic via London and Copenhagen, including a long layover and almost as long immigration line at London Heathrow to do a quick lunch with Sam and his better half on the way.
Day 2 - from Cophenhagen almost straight to Traelanipa (Slave Cliffs) in Faroe Islands via SAS and Vagar Airport in the Faroes.
Day 3 - quick hike of Skardsafossur and Sunset View.
Day 4 - soaking in the view of Drangarnir and Tindholmur from the AirBnB, then Vestmanna Sea Cliffs and Sandavagur.
Day 5 - hike/boat tour of Drangarnir and Tindholmur, the famed Eysturoyartunnilin, and finally on to Klaksvik and the second AirBnB.
Day 6 - rainbows and the four seasons in one day, aka the complete Faroe Islands experience.
Day 7 - the little northern villages, Saksun, Tjornuvik, and Gjogv, with Risin og Kellingin thrown in for good measure.
Day 8 - the puffins on Mykines Island.
Day 9 - Vidoy and Kunoy before flying back to Copenhagen.
Day 10 - return to the USA via London and San Francisco.
