The Most Valuable Playa
Random stretch of Lincoln Blvd, next to Kanpai Sushi.
Interior is contemporary-spartan.
Popcorn chicken was okay, if a bit plain. No chili powder either.
Lu rou fan was meh. Rice was trending towards cold and a bit soggy.
Egg and braised pork were similarly unimpressive.
Not sure why The Most Valuable Playa gets such great reviews. Like most Chinese and Taiwanese food on the westside, you can't expect 626 standards, but even by westside standards it's a bit disappointing. They even manage to screw up white rice.
