Pie Room by Gwen
Apparently Maude, a Michelin 1*, got tired of their old menu and decided to convert to pies and sandwiches. Sandwiches are weekdays lunch-only, but pies are anytime. The dessert pies are amazing, both banana cream and apple were outstanding. The former had a bit too much crust but it was so artfully done it was hard to criticize, while the apple was layer upon layer of thin sliced goodness for the filling, combined with a perfectly done crust on top and bottom.
Savory pies were a little more uneven. Carriage pie and beef cheek and oxtail pies were both excellent, with the ground beef and pork in the carriage pie definitely hitting the spot. Beef cheek and oxtail pie crust was a flakey mess as well. By comparison the lamb curry hotpot pie was a bit too salty. Might have to go back again and try a few more pies!
