Day 1 - Northern Lights
Day 2 - Chenya Hot Springs
Day 3 - Castner Glacier
Day 4 - Downtown Fairbanks
Day 5 - Return
Alaska
Wasn't planning to go back to Alaska so soon, but with so much of the world off-limits to US citizens due to COVID-19, plus the fact that I still had yet to get in a proper viewing of the aurora borealis (Northern Lights) for more than five minutes... well why not.
Cheap airfare and hotels, the fact that they actually had rental cars available at a reasonable price, new moon and a decent aurora activity forecast all helped.
Day 1 - flying and lousy food and yes, for the first time in 3 (or was it 4?) trips, actually seeing the Northern Lights.
Day 2 - mostly unsuccessful attempt to see the Northern Lights via Chenya Hot Springs.
Day 3 - Castner Glacier and its famous (?) ice cave.
Day 4 - downtown Fairbanks and one more shot at the aurora borealis.
Day 5 - the American Express Centurion Lounge in Seattle on the way back to LAX.
