Mammoth
The Chen-Wu family found the grab-and-go breakfast burritos at the Westin to definitely be to their liking. Not sure how much Lan Lan and Lucas wolfed down after Mike and I hit the slopes, but orange juice and the breakfast croissant were also hits.
Beautiful skies and packed powder awaited. After the massive dump at the end of January, it's been a mostly dry season. *sigh* But there was still enough snow to take advantage of, including some solid conditions off High Five Express and Cornice Bowl. The base was only a few inches thick in spots, sufficient for now and maybe a few more weeks?
The late afternoon was spent heading up to June Lake, where June Lake Brewing had just gotten an excellent review by friends. We found things a bit too busy to stay, with every outdoor seat filled and the parking area nearly full, but we did grab a decent spread of beer. Sadly the Berliner Weisse was out of stock, and we weren't too impressed the Post-Op pale ale, Deer Beer brown, or the Alpers trout pale ale. At least Lil' Walker IPA was pretty good, and they had an unexpected WTF Kettle Sour that still needs to be opened.
Dinner back at the hotel was a Snake River Farms black grade prime rib that had been sous vide all day, then finished in the oven. Waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than anything at a restaurant in Mammoth.
