Tahiti: January 2021
Woken before sunset to what appears to be United's COVID-19 food obsession: carbs. That said, I ate the indifferent painini, as I didn't expect to have time to eat during the next layover. There's a glut of morning flights at SFO-- the purser mentioned Tel Aviv and at least two others in addition to Tahiti, so immigration was going to be busy.
The flight actually landed a good bit early, missing the sunrise, but combined with Global Entry still being very speedy (and CBP didn't check at all for a negative COVID-19 test), I ended up with time to check out the United Club. The oh-so-appetizing array of pre-packaged snacks wasn't much to look at, although to be fair, pre-pandemic, the food wasn't much anyway. I elected to pass on the preservatives and instead soaked in the last bits of the sunrise, then dashed off to my next flight.
At least the last flight was a quick and smooth one, and with that, just over 9,000 miles and 18 hours in airplanes (plus another couple of hours in airports) was done! And the final plus: my ears didn't actually fall off from wearing a mask the entire time.
