Utah: August 2020
First trip since safer-at-home orders for COVID-19. Not entirely sure Utah was the best place to visit, but national parks and the great outdoors seemed like a reasonable way to stay socially distanced most of the time. Cousin Jared had also been staying safe and agreed to come down to show off his adopted state. Plus, you know, had never been to any of the four national parks on this trip...
Day 1 - Early morning flight from a deserted LAX to a somewhat more busy DEN, then straight into the heat and haze at CNY (Moab).
Day 2 - Exploring Castle Valley with a hike to Oowah Lake and Clark Lake.
Day 3 - Arches National Park, starting with the famed Delicate Arch, then Double Arch and many others, and a return to Moab via Salt Valley Road.
Day 4 - Canyonlands National Park. Easy to see why this is one of Cousin Jared's favorite places.
Day 5 - Corona Arch and Goblin Valley State Park on the way to Capitol Reef National Park.
Day 6 - Capitol Reef National Park and understanding the true meaning of an International Dark Sky Park.
Day 7 - Terrible food choices and the trek to Bryce Canyon via Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.
Day 8 - Soaking in Bryce Canyon National Park.
Day 9 - Hazy skies for the return home.
