Shibumi
Not sure how Shibumi's dine-in is, but for a Michelin 1*, their previous dine-in menus for dineLA were... not impressive.
For take-out during the global pandemic, they've been doing katsu boxes. In real wood. The waygu one is excellent, but a lot of rice and a little greasy in the breading, although to be fair I think it's actually the fat from the waygu leaking out! The spinach was tasty but not much to go around.
The cured mackerel log turned out to be more pickled than smoked, and it was a ton of rice. If cured mackerel is your thing then go to town, but it was heavier than I expected.
