Erik's visit
Next stop on Erik's old stomping grounds: dim sum in Monterey Park. Take-out eaten in the parking lot again, but at least Capital Seafood BBQ and Dim Sum hit the spot? Did a lot of wandering after as well, drove as far as Diamond Bar, just to check things out again. Did two stops for milk tea-- Erik is apparently powered by caffeine and sugar even more than he was in college-- at Half and Half and Sunright Tea Studio, respectively. Have to say that Diamond Bar was surprisingly peaceful and wasn't yet scorching hot, which was nice. Might have geeked out over Newegg, MSI, Gigabyte, and the other makers' nearby USA HQ's, too. #nerd
Thus fueled by tasty milk tea, we then hauled all the way to Santa Monica, the western-most end of our old stomping grounds. Mask compliance was frighteningly low, especially looking over the Pacific Ocean at Palisades Park. More like non-existent at Palisades Park. *sad*
Still, it was good to get back out to Santa Monica, and to see the importance of Black Lives Matter on the community. Much of the boarded up businesses bore art supporting BLM, even if many of useless twits inside the shopping mall that anchors the southern end of Third Street Promenade, Santa Monica Place, refused to wear masks (looking at you, old people inside the Tesla showroom...).
And just to be complete, Sunright Tea Studio appears to be smoother, with a greater focus on cheese foams that shows through the rest of the menu. Half and Half is closer to the original execution of milk tea-- both are fresh and tasty!
