Cape Town: December 2019
United made a big deal about their Newark to Cape Town inaugural flight. This flight makes United a six continent airline, which is super cool, and especially for those who live in New York, saves a huge amount of time to get to South Africa!
Overall the flight didn't quite catch up to the exceptional expectations set by their previous LAX-SIN inaugural, but it was still pretty good. And while I wasn't planning to return to South Africa so soon, Cape Town is always a beautiful place to visit, and it was definitely nice to wrap up the one last thing I didn't do on the last trip, which was a township tour.
Day 1 - Transcontinential flight on a United 787-10, then the official festivities for the Cape Town inaugural. And then EWR-CPT itself, aka UA 1122 on another 787.
Day 2 - Arrival in Cape Town and correcting another oversight with dinner at Chefs Warehouse and Canteen.
Day 3 - Tour of Langa Township, which represents a significant slice of South African history. Then beginning the return journey via Frankfurt.
Day 4 - Finishing the return via FRA-SFO and then back home!
