Udom-pan-ramen
Ramen at Shin Sen Gumi, since they could take the entire Udompanyanan family right away... their standard ramen is usually not-fancy-but-solid-enough, it's their topping spread that gets a little out of hand? Watching all three kids slurp away definitely proves they are Amy and Nik's kids!
Did take-out from Rutt's Hawaiian Cafe the next night for dinner, since we had even more friends over and hence a crazy big group. The fried saimin is decent, much better than the saimin as noodle soup, while the royale with fried rice loses something in a box and is better fresh. Should have ordered more of the BBQ plates, given that Sora is a meat-eater... and more spam musubi wouldn't have hurt either, given that all of the kids love that!
Might have been some Versailles take-out for lunch in there too, as well as Primo's Donuts for breakfast. But the kids weren't fans of the lemon juice used in the garlic chicken's sauce. And by the time I showed up to both breakfast and lunch, it was just a mess of half-eaten take-out boxes and crumbs all over the table, chairs, and floor. *grins*
Finally, went back to Dim Sum House the morning they left. Turns out the food is still fresh-from-the-freezer terrible, and the kitchen, while less slow, is still pretty $@&*(#!@ slow. And the price is... ouch. It's west LA pricing, which I understand, but it makes for a decidedly non-appealing dim sum spot, both in terms of quality as well as value. And how do you screw up har cheung fun and it sauce that bad??
