Prague: June 2019
Sunrise comes early in the summer, proceeded by a formidable twilight that reminds you just how far north Prague is. The airport is modern, the Priority Pass Lounge has the expected cold cuts and Budweiser available, and with Germanic efficiency, Lufthansa jets you off to Frankfurt, complete with muesli for breakfast at 30,000 feet.
Less efficient, the remote stands in Frankfurt are busy with narrowbodies and widebodies alike, from the smaller Airbus A321 that just did PRG-FRA to big United 777-200's headed to ORD and SFO. The terminal itself has a smattering of giant Airbus A380's parked as well.
Sadly a tight connection meant little time to appreciate the airplanes or the amenities inside the terminal. Hauled butt to catch the FRA-ORD return, crammed into United's decidedly uncompetitive 2-4-2 seats (boo on last minute aircraft swaps), and had another uneventful flight. Managed to arrive in ORD early enough to go through their extraordinary mess of an international-to-domestic transfer and still managed to catch the earliest flight back to LAX.
Prague was a surprisingly pleasant mix of old and new, and a great weekend trip.
