Mammoth
Uneventful drive up to Mammoth with Albert and Stephanie, along with their friend Ana. Turns out Albert packed way too much alcohol, as tasty as the Oban Little Bay was!
Hit the slopes the next day, where the snow was still in great shape, considering it was the end of June. Broadway, Face Lift, Chair 23, and the Gondola were all open, and the snow up was in surprisingly good shape. Cornice was in good shape until around 11am, the backside of Face Lift was perhaps the best snow on the whole mountain, and honestly-- no complaints about being able to ski so late in the season!
Skiied til our legs gave up, not quite the half day hoped... decided discretion was necessary because the 10 mile run that afternoon was going to be a killer, and it was. The first three miles were continuous uphill, and the next two miles through the Lakes Basin were rolling up and down; easier, but not exactly a break! The return wasn't too bad, but the elevation still left its mark on my pace. Fun times!
Dinner from Latin Market that night; they did a good job with the tripas burrito, even if it was somewhat deficient on the amount of meat inside. Wrapped up the night watching cooking challenges. *grins*
