Hong Kong: March 2019
Second mileage run of the year, aka another trip to Hong Kong. Hard to complain when round-trip airfare has been so cheap, especially for premium economy, and even more reason to go when Formula E is in Hong Kong the same weekend!
Having seen only the very tail end of Formula 1 races, the full on Formula E experience was quite different. Less of a spectacle, and no tiny screaming 15,000rpm turbocharged V6's; instead it's dominated by the sounds of tires, straight cut gears, and crumpling bodywork. Electric vehicles do appear to be the future, and why not watch the pinnacle of EV motorosports in a place like Hong Kong!
Days 1 and 2 - Aircraft swap a few days beforehand meant no premium economy on this trip. 15 plus hours in the usual cattle class to Hong Kong, but at least did better with dinner upon arrival.
Day 3 - Quick encounters with jetsetting friends (Petula in the morning, Mia in the evening), plus the highlight of the trip, Formula E Round 5.
Day 4 - time zone changes meant nothing exciting other than hauling my butt to the airport and the long flight home. Plus stops at the United Polaris Lounges at both SFO and LAX.
