Saipan: December 2018
A two-hour delay leaving Hong Kong for Guam ended up screwing the rest of the trip. Turns out there's only one flight a day from Guam to Saipan, and it was long gone by the time the plane landed. The "other" airline that does GUM-SPN does not have scheduled service, only charter flights at the somewhat-obscene price of $1,600 each way.
A lazy day at the beach on Guam it was!
Had lunch at the Hawaiian-themed tourist trap Eggs and Things, which is always mobbed by Japanese and Korean tourists. Food is pretty good for a tourist trap, but only if you can deal with the crowd. Took a quick stroll through the shopping district, got reminded just how far Guam is from the mainland USA when reading some of the signs, and later in the day, had a nice evening run in the rain.
Used the food vouchers provided due to the delay at the (crappy) hotel steakhouse (eeek), where they served horribly overpriced steak with fake fancy branding. Probably would have been better off at the Vietnamese or the Jamaican places across the street.
