Day 2: Frankfurt

Frankfurt's old-school departures board is still cool.

Not much food in the Lufthansa lounge at this hour.

Who needs leg room? Let alone for the next 11+ hours?

They say the 8-abreast A330 is more comfortable than the 9-abreast 787, but honestly, neither is comfortable.

Unlike the last trip, I booked nice long layovers in Frankfurt to avoid any delay-related connection screw-ups. Had enough time to leave the airport and go on a nice run through the countryside and into Kelsterbach, which felt great considering I'd just spent something like 11 hours on a plane and my day of flying was barely half over (!).

Was pleasantly surprised by edible Asian food in the terminal after my run (note: still airport food). Took advantage of the free showers in the lounge after dinner, then it was time to squeeze into a cramped old Lufthansa A340-300 for the overnight flight to Cape Town. Turns out sleeping sitting up is easy enough when you're tired...
