North Dakota
The farm town of Watford City was even less to look at that I expected. Stuck with mediocre breakfast at the Comfort Inn (at least it was brand-new), then off to Theodore Roosevelt National Park's North Unit for a quick morning drive before returning to Bismarck.
River Bend Overlook and Oxbow Overlook were both nice views, but in-between the two was a herd of bison. Can't complain about the road being blocked by a bunch of bison, even if I thought they were going to force me to skip the end of the scenic drive and Oxbow Overlook. Just a few minutes past the bison were a pair of bighorn sheep, right between the road and the cliff side as well. Magnificent animals! (and I was worried I wouldn't see much of anything this morning!)
All too soon, back to Bismarck and my return flight home. Managed to beat the rain, had another layover and another quick bite in Denver, and then back home! Managed to find one last surprise too-- massive leg room in the exit row window seats (row 23A and 23F) on United's newly retorfitted 757-300's. It's cramped everywhere else, but these two seats are perhaps the best economy ones on the plane!
