Moving back into indoor arenas makes the eXPERIENCE & iNNOCENCE tour much more intimate than the previous Joshua Tree tour. Things are far more enjoyable, the rear and side stages have a lot more impact... and things just seem more fun.
Bono starting with a pathway full of stars for Love Is All We Have Left sets the tone for the night-- dramatic and powerful, the new laced with the familiar. Some classics such as I Will Follow and Gloria no longer seem quite as top-shelf as before, but that's simply because they're old and familiar today, with a great deal of newer material after them. Beautiful Day is still amazing, and the massive screen running down the arena is used to even better effect indoors (than outdoors) with Cedarwood Road.
It's an extensive set, 26 songs including the encore, with the rear ("E") stage being used to good effect for an acoustic version of You're The Best Thing About Me and Get Out Of Your Own Way, before they head back to the main stage for City of Blinding Lights and then the encore. An excellent show all-around. Would've been incredible if it wasn't for the charlie-foxtrot that was parking!
