New Orleans
Day two at AAG Annual Meeting, plus exploring the French Quarter and the rest of New Orleans in-between sessions.
A much better lunch than yesterday's with Professor Bennett at Felix's Oyster Bar, both raw and chargrilled oysters plus an alligator plate. Gumbo and beans were meh, but hey, can't expect everything to be good. Heck, given that most tourist traps have horribly overrated food, I was surprised how good most were here.
Afternoon snack of slightly better beignets than Morning Call at Cafe Beignets, although honestly both were pretty close. Met up with Professor Ashraf again at Carma for a New Orleans take on SE Asian; not quite authentic, but still pretty good-- and a nice break from deep fried foods!
Ice Cream 504 for a local take on handmade ice cream and handmade waffle cones (yum!) before catching drinks and more Geography talk at the decidedly divey Roosevelt Hotel Bar. Sazerac for everyone!
