Lazy day of skiing with Mike at Mammoth. First day of the season for us-- great conditions but crowded, especially off Chair 22. And definitely windy the higher up we got!

The brand-new Shelter Distilling in the village does decent beer but pretty awful scotch, no flavor or at best single-note flavor. Not impressed-- I've heard a similar new-fangled distillery in downtown Los Angeles is better, but I have yet to go so it's hard to say...

The new Wu-Chen (or is it Chen-Wu) baby, Lucas, loved the snow though! We wrapped things up with happy hour at whitebark at the Westin. The happy hour menu has removed some of the best items, but the burger is still good and the shishito peppers have a nice kick. Calamari and edamame were quite acceptable as well. The ice cream and cookie was fundamentally decent and pretty, but ultimately forgettable-- seems to be in line with the MO with most restaurants around here.
