Petersen Automotive Museum
Hadn't been to the Petersen in a while, and given it was free museum day in LA County... couldn't complain!
The top floor is more of the history of cars, with a lot of significant ones from the beginning (Model T) into the mid-1950s or so. Some very nice concepts... then you head to the middle floor, where the corporate sponsorship becomes very apparent. It's a little obnoxious, but it's also superbly well done-- Ferrari, Maserati, and McLaren in particular all dominate, but the displays are well done and the cars are some of the most spectacular examples in existence. 2016 McLaren MSO HS, 1956 Jaguar XKSS, 1992 Jaguar XJ220?!?!
Years and years ago they had the Ferrari exhibit out, and this time they had it out again. Your choice of beautiful Ferraris, with a 1961 250GT California Spyder SWB as you walk in.
Lowriders, vintage motorcycles, and a few other vehicles rounded things out-- plus there's an underground level we sadly did not have time to visit. And yes, the redone exterior is quite eye-catching!
