The Mar Vista
Now that most of the babies in the group are old enough to sit through dinner, we can finally take advantage of dineLA Restaurant Week! (well the friends with babies can. Everyone else never stopped!)
The Mar Vista is a pretty newish place with an American contemporary menu. The mushroom (cream of mushroom, really) appetizer was superb, while the scallop ceviche was pretty so-so. Kids's meals and most of the main courses were excellent; the ridiculously sized half chicken unfortunately had two plates that were served rare. Doh. Not good for chicken.
Desserts were okay, the hyped bacon bread pudding was a little strip of bacon on top, an okay bread pudding that then got overwhelmed by sweet cream decoration as well as the scoop of ice cream on top.
Despite the uneven experience with the food, it was good to see old friends!
