Dublin: September 2017
Lovely late afternoon arrival in Dublin, complete with a little rain, lead to wonderfully cloudy (and slightly blue) skies for the afternoon's walk along the River Liffey. Unobtrusive pieces of artwork dot the city, along with a surprising amount of donut shops (not just bars and coffee shops!).
Dinner a few minutes' walk away at The Winding Stair, with a very tasty charcuterie board (lamb and venison anyone?). Entrees were more ordinary, but overall a very decent meal. Skipped dessert and instead grabbed a very creamy cherry ice cream at Dollard & Co. (nom!) Explored a decent bit of Dublin that night, from the Guiness Storehouse (sadly closed at night) to Temple Bar via High Street.
Had we more time, Dublin Castle some of the cathedrals might have been worth a visit, although honestly they all looked pretty modest and hence, skippable this time around. The Brazen Head (Dublin's oldest bar) looked good too, but with Dad not being much of a drinker it probably would have been wasted on him. (note to self: come back with friends!)
