Switzerland and Liechtenstein: July 2017
Hit a local breakfast (buffet-ish?) place, Tibits, then on the road one more time to catch up with Sam and Parveen's friends in Basel. See Yun and Pierre are excellent hosts, and Basel is a lovely little town on the Rhine. Spent a few hours catching up over lunch and then drinks before heading back to the airport.
Returned our Opel Mokka at the airport, said farewell to Sam and Parveen, and then spent the rest of the day exploring central Zurich.
Even the older parts of town aren't too old, but the lakeside location and broad pedestrian plazas make for a comfortable feel. The urban buzz picks up the closer you get to the Hauptbahnhof and its 40+ train tracks, not to mention the obligatory American chains of Starbucks and McDonald's right across the street (more than $7 (CHF 6.90) for a hot chocolate?! o_0 ).
Wrapped the night up with dinner at Clouds, which was suggested by Pierre. Like the rest of the meals-- pretty good but expensive, and ultimately, forgettable compared to other fine dining experiences I've had. 'bout the only plus is that, relatively speaking, it wasn't all that much of a premium given how costly even ordinary meals in Switzerland.
