Delay hell for Southwest today, something like half of the flights for them out of LAX today were delayed. Not sure what happened, but the little old 737-300/500 running laps up and down all day from LAX-SJC looked like it was delayed the whole day.
That said, while construction is still in progress, Terminal 1 looks pretty nice now, with lots of at-seat power, and the flight was smooth enough despite the delays and the clearly tired but well-kept airplane. Quick walk across the street to the rental car center and its massive elevator bank, easy!
Given the flight delays, ended up with a late dinner at Hukilau in Japantown. Very decent drinks (they clearly don't worry much about presentation here!) and tasty enough poke, fried rice, loco moco, and sesame chicken. The portugese sausage is pretty good although the bacon was just so-so. It's not super authentic, but considering how sleepy Japantown user to be, it wasn't bad at all. (thanks for the recommendation, Diana!)
Extra surprise was a lowrider show in Japantown. We were too hungry to browse, but what we did see coming in and out was pretty good looking. Glad Japantown is alive again!
