The National
The National has a new album in the works, and they showered us with probably 3/4th's or more of the new songs on it-- not as moody as their earlier stuff, but not bad. Some found it a little too electronic but I didn't notice, probably because I also listen to a lot of electronic. It did feel like very other song was new, such as The Day I Die, and then an old awesome to rile the crowd up, such as Fake Empire.
t'was actually one of the best shows I've seen where they constantly intermix older songs vs. brand-spankin'-new stuff. They started the encore with Prom Song 13th Century (Frankie & Johnny), then into an old, old goodie-- Mr. November, and then the standard-issue encore songs came up-- Terrible Love and of course, Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks.
Did a lot of walking that night (parking at The Greek is a nightmare, walking was a good idea), which left plenty of room for a pastrami sandwich and banana cream pie at the always delicious House of Pies. The peach pie Nancy had was also excellent. YUM!
