Pretty slow at 1pm.

No tri-tip, but just about everything else.

Being a hip area, they gotta have a good alcohol selection. And of course, Shiner.

1.5lb brisket, 1.5lb pulled pork, 1.5 chickens, 1.5 racks pork ribs, 1lb rip tips, 4 hot links.

Mac and cheese, collard greens, baked beans.

Baked beans were meh, just kinda sweet. Mac n' cheese is good but ordinary.

Pork ribs were surprisingly good, as was the chicken. Hot links are very good but definitely hot.

Brisket was excellent. Pulled pork was good too. And mmm cornbread.

Lots of classics out this weekend.

Been a while since the last Ars Technica forum meetup. Drizzt321, XxOmegaxX, Andara, Nekojin, dredphul, Hagbeard, dust, Yagisama all made it out, Pocky Is God didn't make it at the last minute...

Holy crap that was a lot of food. One tray of meat didn't seem like enough, but add in the sides. We figured we'd order more if we needed it. Turns out we didn't. o_0

No tri-tip, but the pork ribs were pretty good and Hagbeard loves both the chicken and mac 'n cheese. Brisket was almost tasty enough for me to forgive them for not having tri-tip. And the pulled pork and rib tips, both nom. Usually not a fan of pulled pork, but this was tasty. Hot link had a nice snap if you liked spice, too (better than Horse Thief in DTLA).

Aside from the cornbread and the vinegary coleslaw (both quite good), I was pretty meh on the rest of the sides. Definitely nowhere near as good as Copper Top, but it's a hell of a lot closer, and that counts for a lot!

I think everyone rolled home to meat comas after... the last pork rib and chicken in particular, everyone looked on with temptation but also plenty of regret, knowing what would happen if anymore was consumed...
