New Order
After an unexpectedly exciting train ride and consequent delay, got to Shrine Auditorium a little late-- just in time for the second song, Ceremony. (setlist at setlist.fm)
Seats at Shrine never seem to do anything for me, but if you're tall enough to see things from the pit-- the pit is definitely the way to go. While the crowd was on their feet the whole time, something about the experience is that much more magical.
The new stuff off Music Complete doesn't hold up quite as well as the older stuff, but the old stuff is awesome as always. Even slightly newer stuff such as Crystal is very good, but Bizarre Love Triangle (Youtube), The Perfect Kiss, True Faith, and Temptation are an excellent way to end a set! Encore was the standard New Order encore the past tour (or two?), Atmosphere/Love Will Tear Us Apart/Blue Monday (part 1 and part 2); it's an superb combo that has held up!
Late night dinner at Pho Show; horrible food delays as they lost my order for some decidedly so-so pho, but it's late night and west LA, so you take what you can get...
