Girl Scout Cookies and Wine
Brunch with Nancy at Gilbert's El Indio, a Santa Monica staple for authentic, affordable Mexican food. Huevos Indios and coffee for brunch, cash only, and not bad at all.
A few hours to digest, then off to June's Girl Scout Cookies and Wine pairing party at Hache LA off Sunset. Apparently Kevin knows the owners of this hipster burger/beer place, so we got taken care of, plus the burgers are very, very decent, not to mention downright cheap considering the location. French fries were excellent, and the guacamole would've been just as good had it been a tad lighter on the salt. There was even some ice cream brought out that I didn't get around to trying, oops!
I can't remember which pairing list June and Tiffany were consulting, was it LA Times or New York Times? Found most were not that exciting, but the rieseling and trefoils were a good combo. And as Virgil found, you drink the wine and eat the cookies separately; do not try to dunk them like you would with milk.
Really was about meeting up with everyone: Rani and Kevin brought Baby Connor, plus a bunch of their friends, Tiffany and Nazzer, Paris and her significant other, and heck, a very rare Virgil sighting! Add in a few more of Rani and Kevin's friends plus the fact that apparently everyone loves Baby Connor (who in turn seemed didn't seem to mind being held by all of his parents' friends), and it was a very nice time hanging out with friends we don't see as often as we used to!
