LA Marathon Expo
LA Marathon Expo early on a Friday to beat the craze on Saturday-- since the US Olympic team time trials are on Saturday, Saturday was going to be crazy...
They finally sized everything at the expo to handle the crowds, or at least close enough. Pretty vanilla otherwise, although Adidas had a nice art display and the autograph/selfie wall was huge. Air France had a modest presence despite their aggressive marketing, and holy cow the Sketchers Performance logo is not-very-attractive.
Handmade udon at Marugame Monzo for lunch. Decent wait for a medium-small place, but they turn over reasonably quickly, particularly if you have a very small party. And the udon is superb. Great tempura as well. I would skip the squid butter and stick to more traditional udon items; the squid is good but the butter makes it crazy rich.
Dinner at California Roll Factory. Creative rolls with fun names, although there's really only so many ways you can dress up California rolls, spicy tuna rolls, tempura rolls... used to be a lot more impressive back in college, but it's more of a low-budget fun place to go as opposed to a serious sushi place. Rolls are at least huge for your money, which helps!
