Sushi House

Don't think this place has been redone since the 1970s...

Yellowtail. Nom!

Salmon. Just okay.

Spanish mackerel and seared scallop. Former was good, latter would've been better if it wasn't seared.

Lobster roll. Carrot and cucumber bits were way too crunchy, distracting.

Seared albacore.

Shrimp. Quite ordinary.

Ikura. Pretty good compared to most of the other things here. (salmon roe)

Spicy tuna. Plain looking but quite decent.

Caterpillar roll in front, rest of the spread in the back.

Pretty non-descript sushi dinner at Sushi House-- another west LA place (kind of like Aki Sushi) that's been around since the 1970s or 1980s and hasn't ever had a remodel. The nigiri-- ikura and yellowtail in particular-- weren't bad, although the salmon, Spanish mackerel, and seared scallop were just okay.

Caterpillar roll and lobster roll were both so-so, ruined by overly crunchy veggies. And the spicy tuna roll was very, very plain-- not bad for what it's worth, but still super plain.
