London
Only a moderately earning morning and a short walk to the underground, where I joined a horde of commuters on the way into Central London. The crowds got off earlier than I expected, proving just how little I know of London economic geography!
London Paddington is just as picturesque in the morning as it is late at night, and the Heathrow Express is a fast, efficient, if somewhat expensive journey to the airport. Remains a long walk into the actual terminals, but Terminal 2 is very nice, and the United club inside is perhaps the best United club around (at least, in my admittedly limited experience)-- although it still isn't anywhere close to what Turkish Air does.
Polished off LHR with a view of a parked Concorde as the plane headed to the runway, plus what looked like a firefighter training plane (cool!). Relatively dull flight back, with surprisingly good food by United standards, and another London-based flight crew, which meant service was also quite decent.
Not a bad way to spend a long weekend!
