Flying Air Canada instead of Turkish Air was a terrific downgrade to save some money. Oops. Not going to do that again.
Best Airline in North America doesn't mean much, as their competition is pretty terrible. 3 of the 4 flights for the whole trip were late, too. Ugh.
That said, the Airbus A320's they use actually had in-seat power, and the Maple Leaf Lounge in Toronto Pearson International (YYZ) was actually decent. Terrible "pho", not enough power plugs, but a nice view of the terminal. And aside from some downright stupid things they make transiting passengers do (clearing Canadian immigration anyway? Wha?), YYZ is actually quite nice.
While Air Canada has some shiny new 777-300ER's and some 787's coming online, the YYZ-IST flight was on a tired old 767-300ER that looked like it had an interior from the early 1990's, down to the old school overhead bins and odd shades of turquoise. Caused a 2+ hour delay due to mechanical issues. At least it had an LCD retrofit at some point, so the in-seat entertainment actually was pretty good.
