NASA Orion EFT-1
Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral, Florida
Met up near the Astronaut Hall of Fame, hopped on the same buses as yesterday, and this time headed out to viewing area "G" on the NASA Causeway, a scant 3.2 miles from Space Launch Complex 37 (SLC-37)'s pad 37B. Professional media had the area next to us, although we found a few had hijacked spots in Social Media's area as well.
This morning's launch attempt would be a scrub, first due to a boat (tug or cruise ship? conflicting reports...) violating the range, then high winds. Made the best of it with a tour of the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) afterwards; we were hoping to see Pad 39A or 39B as well, but that unfortunately did not materialize. Neither did a visit with LeVar Burton-- that would've been a nice addition to the trip!
Spent way too much time at the KSC Visitor Complex afterwards. Space Shuttle Atlantis is now at KSC, and despite having seen Enterprise and Endeavour many times in recent years, seeing Atlantis still gave me goosebumps.
Wrapped the night up at a local Mexican chain, Tijuana Flats. A slight step above fast food, their claim to fame isn't the food, but an extensive hot sauce bar. Nothing fancy in the sauces or in the restaurant, but excellent variety, and quite a nice touch.
