Hello Kitty Hungry Hunt
The upcoming Hello Kitty Con was paired with the Hello Kitty Hungry Hunt, featuring a limited number of collectible pins at ten different restaurants. Given that three of them were right on Sawtelle, there was almost no excuse not to go, especially with the number of Hello Kitty Fans here.
Early-ish dinner on Friday meant Lollicup's distinctly average strawberry slushie. Got our milk tea (boba) pins, which supposedly were gone by the next day (just two days in, 1000 pins!), so good thing we got 'em. Daikokuya had a reasonable wait so early in the evening as well, and they added a nice touch when you ordered your ramen and pin-- they punched a Hello Kitty into the seaweed!
Next morning was a crazy line at Daikokuya by 11am. Apparently word got out! No one at Seoul Sausage around that time, but by the time I walked back over a little past 11:30am, there were at least 15 people in line-- and they were only giving out 50 at lunch and 50 at dinner. Good thing we were there early! Quite a wait til a little past noon when they actually opened, then ordered the Hello Kitty special, which was really just the standard galbi sausage sandwich with fries. Quite tasty, but jeebus, a heck of a wait-- ended up being #30 or so after everyone's friends showed up, didn't get our sandwiches and pins til well past 12:30pm.
Crazy. The insane part is, Sue and Ophelia then went to go collect a few more pins... o_0
