Aussie pies? Both meat, chicken, and dessert pies. Mmmmmmmm...
A relatively new place in Westwood, the concept of Australian pies sounds good. In reality, I had no idea what to expect. The lean beef pie wasn't bad, with a pastry-like crust that was surprisingly flaky, although the meat filling might've been better if it was served hot instead of merely sorta-warm. The chicken pie was a little better, and the salad was pretty unremarkable. Mashed potatoes were pretty solid, though.
Apple turnover was a similar crust, very flaky, pretty decent, as was the blueberry. And price in the end wasn't bad, although portions were definitely on the small side.
All in all, not too bad, but not quite remarkable enough to earn heaps of praise. Might have to go for two full-sized pastries/pies the next time as opposed to one pie and one mini-pastry, just because leaving hungry wasn't exactly the best impression...
