San Francisco Marathon
4:00am wake-up for the SF Marathon, caught Mike and family at the Starbucks a block away-- and found the streets littered with wreckage for a movie shoot!
Walked to the start line a little over a mile away, and into a rather nice, overcast day to run 26.2 miles through the streets and hills of San Francisco. A nice easy run still lead to a surprisingly good time (3:53:06), less than 2 minutes off my PR for a marathon. Not bad at all given all the hills!
Mike looked pretty trashed (he set a new PR, woohoo!) though, so as we hauled our butts on the cable car back to the hotel and then via the super-authentic Dol Ho for cheap dim sum, he was definitely hurting. Delicious sesame balls and pai gut fan marked the meal, the rest was... well, quite representative of cheap SF dim sum. Full of old Chinese people who got up to get their own teapots, about as authentic as you can get this side of Hong Kong.
A much-delayed BART ride and an unexpected Coffee Bean sighting later, stopped at 99 Ranch (complete with a Brown Sugar inside for pretty decent pearl tea, even if it was pre-made in vat) for slightly-less-cheap and not-as-good dim sum...
