Independence Day
Starting off Independence Day with Arcadia Capital Seafood for a distinctly so-so to average meal of dim sum-- honestly it's not bad, but it's not much more than average, and it's not worth the cost or the additional drive compared to the rest of places in San Gabriel Valley.
Refuelled at Half and Half in Arcadia-- one of the more character-filled locations thanks to its 70's decor and accessories, including old telephones and TV's that, strangely enough, work very well! Quick stop at J.J. Bakery for dan tat, dessert cups (was it mousse or yogurt?), and hot dog buns to take to Simon and Pearl's for their Fourth of July celebration.
Found out that J.J. Bakery's dan tat are extra deep and very filling after we arrived, but we still made room for some excellent steak and a few other goodies as we sat among piles of baby shower gifts and diapers. And cats, of course.
Highlight of the the night was the Redondo Beach fireworks show. Parked at Redondo Union High School and walked down to Czuleger Park, pointed ourselves roughly west/northwest, and enjoyed a nice little show. Sure, there may have been better, but this was fairly minimal hassle (certainly less than Culver City or Santa Monica-- and who knows on Culver City, since they didn't have a show last year!), and it let us head back to Simon and Pearl's relatively quickly to finish the night off watching Independence Day. *grins*
