Las Vegas
Hours and hours spent geeking out at the Hoover Dam and the Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge, some of the more impressive engineering marvels of the modern world. The generators? All original after all these years, although obviously they undergo serious maintenance to keep them that way. And the engineering behind the dam itself is well worth seeing in person. Curiously, there were no Transformers seeing wandering around, be it Autobots or Decepticons...
Dinner at Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris Hotel, where USDA Prime dry-aged at least 28 days beef awaited most of us (one upgraded to Kobe A5). Filet mignons and New York strips were superb, the ribeye was substantially less impressive, seafood platter was mostly good ('cept for the oysters), and the side dishes and desserts were all amazing. Who would think haricot vert (green beans, in this case tempura-battered!) or gnocchi would be so good??
Main issue? Slow. Tables near us cycled over at least once, sometimes twice, while we were there...
