New York 2013
Barely made it to the US Open in Flushing-- had to abort the plans to get xiao long bao in Flushing. Instead, had delicious shortrib and bacon from Farm2fork as we watched Andy Murray fall victim to a surprise upset by Stanislas Wawrinka in the men's quarterfinals. The Billie Jean King National Tennis center is pretty awesome though, and was well worth the trip, even if the Long Island Railroad was a total disaster in the afternoon.
Despite the LIRR difficulties, made it over to meet up with Joel and Jessica (even ended up on the same train as Jessica!) for dinner at Fratoni's in Mineola, got to see their new pad and new car, and hang out for a few hours. t'was a rare treat given how busy they are and how much of a pain it is to visit! Also, Jessica evidently knows us well and correctly predicted how much pizza we would eat. Impressive!
Caught Sarah, Pearl, Shelby, and everyone later that night so that Sarah could have her last night of freedom, although given that Nick's event and hers were sort of combined, it wasn't exactly that. Maybe "bachelor/ette" party is better? The Blind Pig evidently loves their regulars though, as our charming Australian waitress took good care of us, complete with cheap beers past 11pm!
Finished the night at Harry's Italian, with super delicious pizza and more beer. By about 3am though, it was unpleasantly chilly outside and time to call it a night!
