Omar's Xinjiang Halal
After last week's disappointing meal at Shaanxi Gourmet, we were supposed to head to Tokyo Fried Chicken Co... except they were closed for lunch. Oops!
Plan B was Omar's Xinjiang Halal-- which ended up being quite delicious. Cold cucumber and cold tofu were both just ok (tofu was literally a block from the package?), lamb skewers were pretty damned awesome, and the beef tripe was so good we wanted seconds-- but they were all out!
Pilaf was pretty good although if someone had called it fried rice, I wouldn't have been surprised. The chicken/potato/noodle stew was better than Shaanxi Gourmet with nice soft potatoes and reasonable cuts of noodle (sadly but still short of awesome), both the hand pulled noodles and ding ding chow mein were both delicious. Had seconds of the ding ding noodles... nom nom nom!
Not sure how many flavors they seem to have at this place-- didn't seem like too many, maybe 3 or so, but for what they do, they do quite well. Just remember to like lamb!
Fosselman's afterwards for National Ice Cream Cone Day, and some massive fail with Michelle's ice cream cone. But good times all around-- and always good to see Sophia!
