Shaanxi Gourmet
Ticking one more restaurant off of the LA Weekly 10 Best handmade chinese noodle restaurants in Los Angeles. (others: JTYH, Sweethome Grill, 101 Noodle Express)
Food was initially pretty good. Pig ear was excellent, cold cucumber was average, the cut up noodle bits soup was pretty damned good, as were the hot and sour noodle soup.
The rest, unfortunately, was sort of disappointing. Cold sesame noodle wasn't bad at all but wasn't much to it, the beef and lamb noodle soups apparently shared the same broth so the taste was the same, and the huge chicken noodle stew thing was good but ultimately unremarkable. The lamb skewers were also just so-so. After such good experiences at the other places on the list, this was disappointing.
EZ Tea Station next door wasn't bad. A bit sterile, but spacious, nice and clean, and decent enough pearl tea.
