E3
Day 1 of E3 Expo 2013. Hit the AMD event for their FX-9590 (5ghz) CPU and their "Richland" APUs. Not a whole lot to see that hasn't already been published in mainstream media. AMD was light on technical details (this is mostly gaming press after all, not computer/technology press) and with a host of prerecorded demos at a paltry 1920x1080 from co-sponsor Vizio, such a low resolution obviously wasn't going to push anything too surprising on anyone-- even if 1920x1080 is quite demanding for a integrated graphics processor (IGP).
Attempts to bribe us with food and drink were so-so, the Vizio "cocktail" wasn't bad, but the sushi was doled out in microscopic amounts, so I left...
Met up with Kristina and her coworkers at Trader Vic's, which is a Polynesian/Hawaiian/fusion sort of place. Food wasn't bad, cesar salad, flat iron steak, fried rice, and chicken breast strips, and always interesting to hear about E3 from the marketing side as opposed to the media side of things. They went to go party afterwards, while I went in search of a dragon instead. (SpaceX Dragon!)
