Mammoth
Spring skiing at Mammoth can be a crapshoot. Some seasons it's amazingly solid through end of May, looks just like the dead of winter, others show dirt by early April and an early closure.
This year was in-between. Open through end of May, but a lack of late-season storms meant by late April, things were looking pretty melty. We took the opportunity to relax on the morning up, found out Mammoth Lakes has a miniature golf course (who knew?) right next to Rafters, home of some kinda-sorta-classy dining that is probably packed in the winter, but is dead in the summer. Brunch there wasn't bad after 25% off, but it wasn't all that exciting, either.
Hit the slopes for a quick hour or two, found that the top-to-bottom skiing open actually was pretty good, although the top was in far better shape than the bottom. Hiked over to Minaret Vista on the now-clear road (did not need snowshoes) before tacos for dinner, nom nom nom.
